Push Puppet

Inspired by a true story.

I am a man, made of wooden beads

held together with string, and a base at my feet.

Beneath my being, is a button to press

that unleashes a tension on the strings in my chest.

When this button is pressed, I grow weak in my knees

I lose all control, I crumble with ease.

I hang upside-down and dangle right there

until the button’s realeased, then I’m back in the air.

I ponder sometimes, am I alone or like you?

Do you have a button, if pressed, breaks you down too?
